Rebuilding PVC Lines Damaged by Mature Tree Roots

The Problem

Two zones on the shaded side of the property had been failing for years. The original installer had run the laterals straight through what was then a young tree; twenty years of root growth had lifted, bent and finally cracked the pipe in several places.

What We Did

This was the largest excavation of the group. We exposed the full run, documented every break, and rather than patching pipe that would fail again we rerouted the laterals outside the root plate. Where crossing roots was unavoidable the pipe was sleeved and bedded in sand so future growth has somewhere to go.

The Result

Both zones came back to full pressure. Just as importantly, the new routing means the tree can keep growing without destroying the system a second time.
